Description
The HyPer 9 IS ™ is the ideal power-train for any light to mid-weight daily driver. Its Synchronous Reluctance Internal Permanent Magnet (SRIPM) platform delivers outstanding torque and efficiency, generating higher power per Kg than any other motor in its class.
When using this system in a Morris Minor 1000 you can expect a power increases of around 10% (compared to an ‘as new’ 1098cc engine’s 48hp) when using the motor continuously. As Spartan Classic EV transmission designs use a direct drive the motor’s RPM is fixed compared to road speed and the motor will will be turning at around 4,300rpm at 70mph. A 96V system is ideal for this application. A lower voltage will see power tailing off before 70mph as the revs rise. Bear in mind that we are talking about continuous power here; in other words realistic cruising speeds. Peak power, though of limited duration due to heat build-up, is significantly higher and can be used for overtaking etc. Power can be limited if desired by programming the controller.
Below is a link to a performance graph for the Hyper 9. This is for 108V as there isn’t one published for 96V, which is our recommendation for the Minor. The 96V graph would be very similar but show peak power at around 4,300RPM.
The motor weighs 55kg and uses the common standard ‘B’ face drive end, which is compatible with Spartan Classic EV motor mounts and transmissions. The output shaft key (supplied) has a width of 6.35mm (0.25”) and a length of 35mm (1.375”).
